Welcome
Meet Amanda
Hello! I’m Amanda Castillo, RNC-IBCLC, owner and founder of Breastfriends Lactation & Infant Feeding.
I was raised in the Texas Panhandle and am a wife and mother of four—twin boys, my only daughter, and our last miracle boy. My children are my greatest inspiration and, in many ways, the reason my journey into nursing began.
More than 20 years ago, I was a pregnant teen carrying twins and spent two months on hospital bedrest. During that time, I experienced firsthand the impact nurses can have on a mother during one of the most vulnerable seasons of her life. It was there that I felt God leading me toward a career caring for women and infants.
I became a mother/baby nurse in 2012, and since then, God has continued to add each building block to my career. I earned my Maternal Newborn Nursing certification (RNC-MNN) in 2016, became a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) in 2019, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2022, and completed Tethered Oral Tissues Specialty (TOTS) training in 2023.
Throughout my career, my passion has continued to grow beyond simply helping a baby breastfeed. I have developed a deep love for caring for the mother-baby dyad as a whole—understanding that feeding is a relationship and that the well-being of one directly affects the other. That passion has continually pushed me to learn more, expand my knowledge, and look deeper when feeding isn’t going as expected.
Whether a family is breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping, or navigating more complex feeding and oral function concerns, my goal is to support both mother and baby with compassionate, individualized, evidence-informed care.
My personal journey, years of mother/baby nursing, continued education, and love for caring for the mother-baby dyad ultimately led to the creation of Breastfriends Lactation & Infant Feeding—and continue to shape how the practice grows today. My hope is that every family who walks through our doors feels heard, supported, educated, and confident in caring for their baby.
About Breastfriends, LLC.
My Passion
My passion is to educate and support each mother and family as they work toward their own personal feeding goals. I want you to feel seen, supported, and confident throughout your journey.
I believe families deserve honest, transparent guidance without judgment or pressure. I’ll meet you where you are, listen to what matters to you, and walk alongside you like a friend…a Breastfriend. 😉
Whether your goal is to breastfeed for one week or three years, exclusively pump, bottle feed, or find a combination that works best for your family, I’m here to provide education, support, and individualized care that empowers you to make the choices that feel right for you and your baby.
Our Philosophy:
At Breastfriends Lactation & Infant Feeding, our philosophy is rooted in connection, compassion, education, and individualized care. We believe every family deserves to feel heard and supported while receiving honest, evidence-informed guidance throughout their feeding journey.
We meet families where they are, taking the time to understand their individual goals, concerns, and the needs of the mother-baby dyad as a whole. Whether a family chooses breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, combination feeding, or needs support with more complex feeding and oral function concerns, our role is to provide the education and clinical recommendations needed to help them make informed decisions that are right for their family.
We are committed to maintaining a high standard of clinical practice and continually expanding our knowledge through continuing education, advanced training, professional collaboration, and current evidence-based practices. As Breastfriends continues to grow, that commitment to thoughtful, compassionate, and high-quality care will remain at the heart of everything we do.
Above all, we want every family who receives care through Breastfriends to leave feeling seen, supported, educated, and confident.
