Lactation & Infant Feeding Services

Feeding is more than just the latch.

At Breastfriends, we look at the whole feeding picture — including milk transfer, oral function, feeding mechanics, positioning, pumping, bottle feeding, movement patterns, regulation, and areas of tension that may be contributing to feeding difficulties.

Whether you are breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, combination feeding, preparing for baby, or simply trying to understand why feeding feels harder than expected, our goal is to help you feel seen, supported, and confident with a plan that works for your family.

Prenatal Lactation Visit

Prepare before baby arrives — without trying to memorize everything.

60 Minutes to 90 Minutes I $150

A prenatal lactation visit gives us time to talk through what breastfeeding and milk production may realistically look like for you before you're also recovering from birth and caring for a brand-new baby.

We'll focus especially on the first hours and days after delivery and create a feeding plan based on your history, goals, and individual circumstances.

This visit is especially helpful for:

• First-time parents
• Parents who want to feel more prepared before delivery
• Previous breastfeeding or milk-supply challenges
• History of breast or chest surgery
• Previous latch or feeding difficulties
• Planned Cesarean birth
• Concerns about pumping or milk production
• Parents expecting multiples
• Families wanting a plan for supplementation or pumping if needed
• Anyone who simply wants to start with more confidence

Your visit may include:

• Health and feeding history
• Breast assessment when appropriate
• Your feeding goals and preferences
• What to expect during the first 24–72 hours
• Early feeding cues and newborn feeding behavior
• Positioning and latch education
• Hand expression and early milk removal
• When pumping may or may not be helpful
• Signs baby is getting enough milk
• When to ask for additional help
• Personalized feeding plan for after delivery

Initial Lactation & Infant Feeding Visit

60 Minutes I $175

Your first visit is a comprehensive evaluation centered around the concerns bringing you and your baby to Breastfriends.

We’ll review your pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and feeding history and then assess the areas most relevant to your individual feeding goals.

Your visit may include:

• Breastfeeding and/or bottle-feeding assessment
• Weighted feeding and milk transfer when appropriate
• Latch and positioning support
• Oral and functional feeding assessment
• Suck coordination and feeding mechanics
• Milk-supply concerns
• Pumping assessment and flange fitting
• Bottle-feeding support
• Infant movement and positioning patterns
• Regulation and areas of body tension that may be influencing feeding
• Pre- and post-release feeding support when applicable
• Individualized home recommendations and care plan
• Collaboration with your baby’s healthcare team when indicated

As an RN, IBCLC and TOTS-trained provider, Amanda takes a whole-baby approach to feeding concerns, looking beyond the latch to better understand the factors that may be contributing to feeding difficulty.

Established Patient Lactation & Infant Feeding Follow-Up

60 Minutes I $125

For established patients who need continued feeding support, reassessment, or adjustments to their current care plan.

Your follow-up is individualized based on your baby’s progress and the concerns identified during your previous visit.

Your visit may include:

• Reassessment of latch and milk transfer
• Weighted feeding when appropriate
• Oral-function reassessment
• Feeding-mechanics support
• Breast or bottle-feeding concerns
• Milk-supply or pumping support
• Flange-fit reassessment
• Movement, positioning, regulation, and body-tension reassessment
• Pre- or post-release progress
• Review of oral exercises or feeding strategies already included in your care plan
• Updates to your individualized home plan
• Collaboration with other members of your baby’s healthcare team when needed

Follow-up visits allow us to see how your baby is progressing, make adjustments as feeding changes, and continue working toward comfortable, effective feeding for your family.

Virtual Lactation Consultation

Support wherever you are.

60 Minutes | $120

Virtual visits are a convenient option for concerns that do not require an in-person weighted feeding or hands-on infant assessment.

Virtual support may be appropriate for:

• Pumping questions
• Flange fitting
• Milk-storage questions
• Return-to-work planning
• Bottle introduction
• Feeding-plan review
• Weaning support
• General lactation education
• Emotional support around your feeding journey
• Transitioning feeding plans as your baby grows

For your appointment, choose a well-lit, quiet space and have any pumps, bottles, nipple shields, or other feeding supplies you'd like to discuss nearby.

If an in-person assessment would provide more appropriate care, we will let you know.

Additional time, when available, is billed at $60 per additional 30 minutes.

Bottle Introduction, Bottle Refusal & Return-to-Work Support

Because “just give the baby a bottle” isn't always that simple.

60 Minutes I $150

Whether you're introducing your baby's first bottle, preparing to return to work, or suddenly have a baby who refuses every bottle you offer, this visit is designed to help make the transition less stressful.

We look beyond simply trying different bottle brands and consider how your baby is feeding.

If bottle refusal appears to involve a broader feeding or oral-function concern, a comprehensive infant-feeding evaluation may be recommended.

This visit is not intended to replace a comprehensive breastfeeding assessment when breastfeeding concerns are also present.

Weight & Feeding Progress Check

Sometimes you just need reassurance that things are moving in the right direction.

30 Minutes I $50

Available for established patients who need a brief weight or feeding-progress check without a full lactation reassessment.

May include:

• Infant weight check
• Review of weight-gain progress
• Brief feeding-history update
• Review of an established care plan
• Determination of whether a longer follow-up is needed

If new or significant feeding concerns are identified, a comprehensive follow-up may be recommended.

Pumping & Flange-Fitting Consultation

Pumping shouldn't hurt.

60 Minutes I $125

exclusively pumping parents, parents preparing to begin pumping, or anyone who feels like their pump just isn't working for them.

Your visit may include:

• Pump setup and education
• Flange-size assessment
• Flange-fit observation during pumping
• Comfort concerns
• Pump settings and cycling
• Strategies to improve milk removal
• Pumping schedule review
• Milk storage and handling education
• Planning for exclusive pumping or return to work

Comprehensive Pumping Visit

Insurance coverage may be available when pumping support is part of a covered lactation visit.

This service does not include a full breastfeeding, infant oral-function, or milk-supply evaluation unless booked as a comprehensive lactation visit.

Reimbursement:

Some families may be eligible for reimbursement for lactation care through their insurance plan. Coverage varies by plan, and reimbursement is not guaranteed.

We are happy to provide documentation for you to submit to your insurance company.
