COMING TO BREASTFRIENDS IN 2027!

Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT)

Because supporting your baby means looking at the whole picture.

We're excited to share that Breastfriends Lactation & Infant Feeding is expanding to include Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT)!

We know feeding involves more than just your baby's mouth. Comfort, positioning, movement, and the way your baby's body works together can all be important parts of their feeding experience.

We're looking forward to introducing another gentle, individualized approach to whole-baby care.

What Is Craniosacral Fascial Therapy?

Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) is a gentle, hands-on bodywork approach developed by Dr. Barry Gillespie that combines concepts from craniosacral therapy and fascial bodywork.

Fascia is the connective tissue found throughout the body. It surrounds and supports our muscles, organs, and other structures.

CFT uses light-touch techniques and follows your baby's natural movements, with an emphasis on comfort and responding to their cues.

Why Might Families Be Interested in CFT?

Some parents become interested in gentle bodywork when they notice their baby seems uncomfortable, prefers turning their head in one direction, or struggles to settle into certain positions.

Families may explore CFT when they have concerns about:

  • Body tension or stiffness

  • Head-turning preferences

  • Comfort in different feeding positions

  • Difficulty relaxing during routine handling

  • Movement and positioning

These concerns don't necessarily mean your baby needs CFT, and CFT hasn't been proven to treat them. Persistent movement, positioning, or feeding concerns should also be discussed with your baby's healthcare provider.

What to Expect During a CFT Session

Every baby is different, and your little one's comfort will always guide our approach.

Getting to know your baby: We'll begin by discussing your baby's history, your concerns, and what you've noticed at home.

Observing comfort and movement: We'll pay attention to how your baby rests, moves, and responds to different positions.

Gentle hands-on bodywork: Light-touch techniques will be used within the provider's training and professional scope.

Following your baby's cues: Breaks for feeding, cuddling, soothing, and rest are always welcome.

Discussing next steps: We'll answer your questions and discuss whether additional medical, feeding, or developmental evaluation may be appropriate.

Our Whole-Baby Approach

At Breastfriends, we believe every baby deserves individualized care that looks beyond a single symptom.

Our approach to infant feeding considers oral function, positioning, movement, comfort, and the unique needs of each family.

CFT will be offered as a separate service within our growing practice, giving families another option to explore.

CFT does not replace pediatric medical care, physical therapy, or specialized feeding evaluation. Scientific evidence supporting craniosacral approaches for infant feeding or other specific medical concerns remains limited.

Coming in 2027!

We're currently preparing for additional training and the introduction of Craniosacral Fascial Therapy at Breastfriends Lactation & Infant Feeding.

Appointments and pricing will be announced once training is complete and we're ready to welcome families.

We can't wait to share this next chapter of Breastfriends with you!

I’m looking forward to working with you!
